Jamshedpur, Nov 26: The Steel City is set to receive a major infrastructure boost as a four-lane road and bridge project for the Jamshedpur East Assembly area has been officially approved.
The ambitious project also includes the construction of a four-lane road from Litti Chowk in Bhuiyandih to Bhilai Pahari (NH-33), along with a four-lane bridge over the Swarnarekha River. The total cost of the project has been fixed at ₹39 crore.
Under the project, a 242-metre-long bridge will be built and the approach road will cover a length of 3.453 kilometres. The total length of the entire project will be 3.695 kilometres.
Once completed, the project is expected to significantly improve traffic movement in the area and provide major relief to commuters by strengthening the local transport system.
To speed up the implementation of the project, Jamshedpur East MLA Purnima Sahu held a detailed meeting with Superintending Engineer and Executive Engineer of Jamshedpur Path Pramandal, Deepak Sahay, at her residential office in Agrico on Tuesday.
Sahu also expressed displeasure over the delay in the project and instructed the concerned officials to begin the work at the earliest. Meanwhile, she also spoke to Secretary of Jharkhand Government’s Road Construction Department over the phone and held detailed discussions regarding the progress of the scheme.
During the discussion, Engineer Deepak Sahay assured the MLA that the project would be officially inaugurated within ten days in her presence.
Sahu said that once the project is completed, people in the area will get better road facilities and the movement of heavy vehicles will be possible from outside the city, which will also reduce the traffic load within the city.
Notably, the MLA had strongly raised this issue during the previous Assembly session and had been in continuous communication with the Road Construction Department Secretary.
