Dhanbad, Nov 19: The Dhanbad Police on Wednesday carried out a major public outreach campaign to promote the Dial 112 emergency helpline, reminding citizens that police, fire services and ambulance assistance are now available through a single number.
The initiative was launched across the city on the instructions of SSP Prabhat Kumar.
Led by CCR DSP Sumit Kumar, teams spread out to busy marketplaces and residential pockets, interacting with people and explaining how the integrated emergency system works. Officers informed residents that whether it is a road accident, medical crisis, fire, crime, or any distress situation, calling 112 ensures that the nearest response team is dispatched immediately.

According to DSP Kumar, the drive has two major objectives of making the public comfortable with using the 112 helpline and strengthening road safety awareness. He said that the police are simultaneously educating commuters on speed limits, helmet and seatbelt use, pedestrian safety and other essential traffic norms.
Officials highlighted that Dhanbad’s emergency response time under the 112 system is currently around five minutes, allowing police teams to reach most locations quickly after receiving a call. “Our focus is on delivering timely and dependable support, no matter what the emergency is,” DSP Kumar said.
Police also urged citizens to save the 112 helpline on their phones and use it without delay whenever they or someone around them needs urgent assistance.
