Ranchi, Nov 19: Dhanbad MLA Raj Sinha was on Wednesday selected for the Outstanding Legislator Award, which will be presented during the Jharkhand Assembly’s Silver Jubilee celebrations on November 22.
The decision was taken at a meeting held at Speaker Rabindranath Mahto’s residence, where Leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi, BJP Chief Whip Naveen Jaiswal, and other committee members were also present.
After the meeting, Mahto told mediapersons that this year’s Assembly Foundation Day carries special significance as the state is celebrating its Silver Jubilee. He said that all selected individuals will be felicitated during the Silver Jubilee event where Sinha will receive the honour from Governor.

Along with Sinha, several Assembly staff members including Joint Secretary Santosh Kumar Singh, Branch Officer Neelam Kujur, Assistant Branch Officer Mohammad Shahid, Garden Supervisor Rakesh Kumar Singh, and instructors Mannu Ram and Ravindra Pal will also be awarded.
Reacting to the announcement, MLA Raj Sinha said the recognition was a proud moment for him and thanked the people of Dhanbad for their support. Sinha also recalled that former MP and ex-MLA P.N. Singh had also received this honour earlier.
Sinha said he is committed to continuing that legacy and assured that he would keep working hard to live up to the expectations of Dhanbad people.
Significantly, Sinha is a three-time BJP MLA from Dhanbad. He was first elected as Dhanbad MLA in 2014 where he defeated Congress candidate Mannan Mallick. He later retained the seat in 2019 and 2024 assembly elections.
