Jamshedpur, May 1: Shambhavi Jaiswal, a student of Loyola School in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, has topped India’s ICSE Class 10 board examinations for 2025 with a flawless 100% score — the only student in the country to achieve the feat this year.

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) announced the results on April 30. Over 2 lakh students appeared for the Class 10 exams nationwide.

“I felt happy when I saw the result. My teachers praised me. I was confident I would score above 99 percent, but I never imagined I would get a perfect 100,” Jaiswal told reporters.

Known for her disciplined lifestyle, Jaiswal studied six to seven hours daily and avoided distractions. “I don’t have any social media account and use television occasionally for entertainment,” she said.

She has opted for the science stream in Class 11 and plans to pursue computer science engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, one of India’s most prestigious technical institutions.

Her father, Dr Abhishek Jaiswal, a radiologist at Meherbai Tata Memorial Hospital, expressed pride at the achievement. “While I was confident she would score very well, I never imagined she’d achieve a perfect 100% and emerge as the national topper,” he said. He credited Loyola School’s academic rigor and the dedication of its teachers.

Described as humble and analytically sharp, Jaiswal is also active in debates, music and social service. Her mother, Dr Ojasvi Shanker, is a gynaecologist at Tata Manipal Hospital.

Nationwide, girls outperformed boys in both ICSE and ISC exams. In Class 10, 99.37% of girls passed compared to 98.84% of boys. In Class 12, the pass rate stood at 99.45% for girls and 98.64% for boys.
