“The TelanganaRising delegation, led by CM Reddy, concluded its highly successful Davos trip on Thursday with a total investment of ₹1,78,950 crore, which will create 49,550 jobs,” stated the Chief Minister’s Office in a press release.
Major investments include ₹60,000 crore committed by Amazon AWS for a data centre, ₹45,500 crore from Sun Petrochemicals, ₹15,000 crore each from Tillman Global Holdings and Megha Engineering, and expansions by Infosys, HCL, and Wipro in Hyderabad, promising 17,000, 5,000, and 5,000 jobs, respectively. The state also secured investments in solar cell manufacturing, electric vehicles, rocket production, aircraft interiors, UAVs, and defence, with Jindal’s entry into the defence sector being a significant achievement.
At various forums during WEF, CM Reddy outlined his vision to make Telangana a $1 trillion State Domestic Gross Product (SDGP) economy through an aggressive clustering strategy. He explained that the core urban area inside the Outer Ring Road (ORR) would focus on services, the semi-urban zone between the ORR and the proposed Regional Ring Road (RRR) would focus on manufacturing, and the rural areas outside the RRR would prioritize agriculture and food processing.
“Building on core strengths of Hyderabad and Telangana in software and pharma, Telangana will now look to grow in a very big way in data centres, green energy, food processing, electric vehicles, semiconductors, among others,” CM Reddy said.
The delegation highlighted ongoing and future infrastructure projects such as Metro Rail expansion, the development of the Regional Ring Railway, the rejuvenation of the Musi River, and electric vehicle promotion.
CM Reddy also emphasized Telangana’s ambition to position itself as a supplement to China in global supply chains. “The world, post-Covid and its deep consequences on supply chains, urgently needs a supplementing alternative to China (China Plus One), a position Telangana would aggressively and proactively like to take,” he said.
The WEF 2025 summit marked a significant milestone for Telangana’s economic ambitions, with the investments aligning with its goals for sustainable growth and global competitiveness.
