Mumbai, Dec 26: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday outlined an ambitious 25-year roadmap for the state’s power sector, promising a reduction in electricity tariffs within the next two years. Speaking at a ‘Meet the Press’ event in Nagpur, Fadnavis emphasized the state government’s commitment to transforming Maharashtra through balanced growth across agriculture, industry, infrastructure, and social sectors.

“Our focus will be on the comprehensive development of Maharashtra, ensuring growth in all key areas,” Fadnavis said, marking the roadmap as a significant step toward the state’s modernization.

The Chief Minister also took a moment to address criticisms from his political opponents, asserting that their attacks have failed to resonate with the public. “I am sure they will do some introspection as they would have realized that they have not gained anything by mindless targeting,” Fadnavis stated. He reaffirmed his belief in constructive politics, adding, “I am not used to the politics of manipulation, I believe in constructive politics.”

Reflecting on his previous tenure, Fadnavis acknowledged mistakes and vowed to continue learning from them. “Wherever I feel I have made a wrong decision, I will admit and rectify it,” he said, stressing his intent to move forward with a focus on the state’s future.

A key part of Fadnavis’ vision for Maharashtra’s development is addressing regional imbalances, particularly in the Vidarbha and Marathwada regions. The state leader promised equitable development across all regions, highlighting the river-linking project expected to irrigate 10 lakh hectares of land in Vidarbha. “We will ensure justice to the entire state,” he assured.

Fadnavis also turned his attention to the development of Gadchiroli, which he described as poised to become India’s next steel city. “The Naxal menace will be dealt with firmly,” he said, suggesting that the area’s industrial transformation will coincide with efforts to combat local insurgency.

In addressing the growing concern over cybercrimes, Fadnavis highlighted plans to leverage artificial intelligence and technology to tackle fraud. “With bold reforms, Maharashtra will ensure that miscreants’ motives to misuse advanced technology are tackled effectively,” he explained. The Chief Minister also pointed to ongoing efforts to increase public awareness about cyber threats.

On housing, Fadnavis announced that Maharashtra is set to receive the largest allocation under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), with 20 lakh homes sanctioned for the state. “Shelter for all the poor, the farmers, and the homeless will soon become a reality,” he declared.

Fadnavis also touched on the unity of the Mahayuti alliance partners, emphasizing collective decision-making: “All decisions are taken collectively,” he said.

With his government’s increasing mandate, Fadnavis pledged a focus on transparency and accountability. “With greater mandate come responsibilities… we promise transparency and accountability,” he concluded.
