Ranchi, Oct 25: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) general secretary Vinod Pandey on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the BJP over its State Working Committee’s political resolution, accusing the party of misleading the people of Jharkhand through allegations and demanding an account of its governance record on tribal rights, employment and development.

Pandey said the BJP had neither concrete issues to present before the people nor a credible account of its achievements during its tenure. Instead, he alleged, the party was attempting to create confusion through political resolutions and baseless allegations against the Hemant Soren government.

Before questioning the state government, the BJP should explain its own performance in office, he said, adding that the people of Jharkhand were well aware of the party’s political tactics and alleged double standards.

Pandey said the BJP had failed to provide lasting solutions to the problems faced by the state’s poor, tribal communities, indigenous people, farmers, labourers and youth during its tenure. He asserted that attempts to discredit the Hemant Soren government would not weaken the aspirations of the people.

Questioning the BJP’s allegations of corruption and misgovernance, Pandey asked how many permanent jobs had been provided to young people during its rule, how many farmers’ problems had been resolved and what concrete measures had been taken to protect the rights of displaced people. Public trust, he said, could not be secured merely through political accusations.

He maintained that the people of Jharkhand had given their mandate to the government led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, which he said was working for the welfare of the poor, women, farmers, tribal communities, indigenous people and other disadvantaged sections. He added that the BJP’s criticism of welfare schemes and social security initiatives reflected its political anxiety.
