New Delhi, Sep 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed grief over the death of Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, a prominent member of Dubai’s ruling family.
In a message shared on social media, Modi conveyed his condolences to the Al Maktoum family and the people of Dubai following Sheikh Ahmed’s death.The Prime Minister said Sheikh Ahmed’s efforts towards serving society would continue to be remembered by future generations.
Modi also expressed his sympathies to the bereaved royal family and the people of Dubai, and prayed for peace for the departed soul.Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum was a member of the Al Maktoum family, which has ruled Dubai for generations.
He was the younger brother of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai.
The Dubai Ruler’s Court has announced a period of official mourning following his death.
Modi’s condolence message comes against the backdrop of close and expanding relations between India and the UAE, with the two countries maintaining strong ties in areas including trade, investment, energy and people-to-people contacts.
