Bengaluru, September 8: A new Technology Centre dedicated to supporting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in advanced manufacturing and electronics is set to be inaugurated at Devanahalli in Bengaluru on September 10.
Union Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Shobha Karandlaje will inaugurate the facility, which has been developed over 10 acres at an investment of around Rs 156 crore. The centre has been established by the Ministry of MSME on land provided by the Karnataka government and is equipped with infrastructure for training, production, administration and residential accommodation.
Its primary focus will be on Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM), with facilities aimed at helping MSMEs adopt advanced production technologies and improve their technical capabilities.
The centre will provide access to technologies including surface-mount technology, additive manufacturing, three-axis and five-axis CNC machining and electrical discharge machining. It will also offer testing, product design, prototyping and technical consultancy services.
A major component of the facility will be its skill-development programme. The centre is expected to have the capacity to train nearly 10,000 people annually in areas such as embedded systems, printed circuit board design and assembly, automation, robotics, maintenance and repair. The facility is located within a strong industrial ecosystem comprising major aerospace, electronics, semiconductor and engineering companies and institutions.
These include Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, the National Aerospace Laboratories, the Indian Space Research Organisation and several global and Indian technology companies.Officials said the centre is expected to strengthen connections between MSMEs and larger industries by providing smaller enterprises with access to advanced technologies, technical expertise and skilled manpower.
An exhibition at the inauguration will highlight the contribution of Indian MSMEs to the aerospace and ESDM sectors. The Ministry of MSME operates a network of Technology Centres across the country to support enterprises in technology development, industrial training, design, prototyping, testing and production.
The Devanahalli centre is expected to add further momentum to these efforts in Karnataka, while contributing to technology adoption, employment generation and the development of a more competitive manufacturing ecosystem.
