Patna, Sept 6: The Bihar government has ordered a major reshuffle in the police department, transferring and reassigning 37 officers at the SDPO, DSP and ASP levels to different districts and specialised units, including the Special Task Force (STF), Special Branch, Vigilance Investigation Bureau, Economic Offences Unit, Railways and Traffic.
The transfer orders issued by the Home Department involve substantial movement of officers from field postings to specialised police wings and training establishments, as well as fresh appointments in reserve and security units.
Among the significant changes, Raj Kumar Sah, who was posted as Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Sadar, Ara, has been appointed Superintendent of Police, Vigilance Investigation Bureau, Bihar, Patna, in his own pay scale.
The reshuffle also strengthens the Economic Offences Unit (EOU), with Anand Kumar Pandey, earlier SDPO Sadar, Begusarai, appointed Additional Superintendent of Police, EOU, Patna. Praveen Bharti and Gauri Kumari have also been posted to the Economic Offences Unit in Patna.
The Special Task Force has received a new officer with Sanjay Kumar Jaiswal, earlier SDPO-1, Sadar, Bihar Sharif, being appointed DSP, STF, Patna.
Several officers have also been moved to the Special Branch. Ajay Kumar Singh, Sanjay Kumar Jha, Raj Kumar-2, Ravi Kumar, Kanhaiya Singh and Anurag Kumar are among those assigned to the specialised intelligence and security wing in Patna.
The department has also made changes in the Special Security Force. Sunil Kumar Pandey, transferred from SDPO Wazirganj, Gaya, has been appointed DSP, Special Security Force, Patna.
The Railway Police has seen a fresh round of postings, with Alok Kumar, earlier SDPO Sadar, Saharsa, appointed DSP, Railway, Jamalpur. Md. Adil Belal, earlier posted as DSP at BPTC-10, Patna, has been appointed DSP, Railway, Samastipur.
The reshuffle also brings changes in traffic policing across the state. Roshan Kumar Gupta, earlier DSP, Railways, Samastipur, has been posted as DSP, Traffic, Siwan, while Sandeep Goldy, earlier SDPO Dhamdaha, Purnia, has been appointed DSP, Traffic, Rohtas.
Rajesh Kumar, formerly SDPO-II, Sadar, Gopalganj, has been posted as DSP, Traffic, Arwal.
The Vigilance Investigation Bureau has received several new appointments. Apart from Raj Kumar Sah’s elevation, Vinod Kumar, earlier DSP (Reserve), Siwan, has been posted as DSP, Vigilance Investigation Bureau, Patna. Suresh Prasad Singh, earlier DSP, B.V.S.P.-7, Katihar, has also been transferred to the Vigilance Investigation Bureau in Patna.
The latest orders have also affected police training establishments. Sanjay Kumar Pandey has been posted as Additional Superintendent of Police, BPTC-1, Patna, while Vibhas Kumar has been assigned as ASP, BPTC-7, Katihar. Sanjeev Kumar has been posted as ASP, BPTC-15, Bhimnagar, Supaul.
Reserve police formations have also received new officers. Surendra Kumar, earlier SDPO Veerpur, Supaul, has been appointed DSP (Reserve), Siwan. Other reserve postings have been made in Patna and Rohtas.
In another key change, Ravi Shankar, who was serving as DSP (Cyber Crime), Kishanganj, has been transferred to Bihar Police Headquarters, Patna, as DSP.
The orders also include postings of officers from various field positions in districts such as Siwan, Samastipur, Madhepura, Supaul, Vaishali, Aurangabad, Motihari, Masaurhi and Chapra.
The latest exercise marks a broad administrative reorganisation of Bihar’s police force, with officers being shifted between field assignments and specialised wings dealing with security, intelligence, economic offences, vigilance, railways, traffic and training.
The transfer orders come amid continued administrative changes within the state police establishment, with the Home Department issuing postings involving a large number of DSP-level officers.
