PM Modi congratulates Meloni on record tenure as Italy’s longest-serving post-war PM

New Delhi, September 4: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday congratulated his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni on becoming the longest continuously serving prime minister in Italy’s post-war history.

In a message posted on X, Modi said Meloni’s achievement reflected the confidence and trust placed in her leadership by the Italian people.The Prime Minister also underlined the importance of the relationship between India and Italy, saying Meloni’s friendship had contributed to strengthening the two countries’ special strategic partnership.

Modi said he looked forward to continuing close cooperation with Meloni to work towards a prosperous future for the people of both nations.He also conveyed his best wishes to the Italian prime minister for continued success in the years ahead.

Meloni became Italy’s prime minister in October 2022 and has since led the government through a sustained period of political continuity.

India and Italy have been working to expand bilateral cooperation across areas including trade, investment, defence, technology, energy and other sectors.

Modi’s message reaffirmed India’s commitment to further deepening its partnership with Italy and maintaining close engagement with the Italian government.
