Patna, Aug 31: The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has postponed the online application process for the fourth phase of the state’s teacher recruitment examination, TRE-4, dealing a setback to thousands of aspirants waiting to apply for 32,388 teaching posts.
The online application process was scheduled to begin on September 1, but the commission has deferred it until further notice, saying that certain procedural changes are being made in the recruitment process.
“The online application start date has been postponed due to some procedural changes,” the commission said, adding that a fresh date for the application process would be announced soon.
The recruitment drive is aimed at filling 32,388 vacant teaching posts in the Bihar Education Department. Candidates will be able to submit their applications only after BPSC issues a revised schedule.
The postponement comes against the backdrop of protests by teacher recruitment aspirants in Patna over the examination and recruitment schedule.
BPSC had issued a notification on August 18 announcing that online applications would open from September 1. The announcement came amid growing resentment among candidates, who had been demanding clarity on the recruitment process and examination schedule.
The protesting students had warned of intensifying their agitation, including surrounding the Education Minister, if the examination schedule was not announced soon.
The protests also received support from opposition leaders, including RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and CPI(ML) Liberation General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya.
With the application process now put on hold, thousands of candidates preparing for the recruitment examination are awaiting BPSC’s next announcement on the revised application schedule.
The commission has said the new date will be notified after the procedural changes are completed.
