Ranchi, Aug 30 : The Jharkhand Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested another accused, identified as Sameer Kumar, in connection with the alleged irregularities and malpractice in the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) CGL examination.
The arrest was made under Case No. 01/2025. Investigators are questioning Sameer Kumar to establish his alleged role in the case and gather information about other suspects who may have been connected to the matter.
The CID has been investigating the alleged irregularities in the JSSC-CGL examination for several months. During the probe, investigators have reportedly uncovered details related to candidates allegedly obtaining unfair assistance and questions or answers being made available to candidates before or during the examination.
The latest arrest comes after the agency had earlier arrested six successful candidates in connection with the case.
Earlier arrests in the case
The CID had also arrested Abhay Kumar Tiwari, his wife Sushma Tiwari and his brother Akshay Tiwari, who were subsequently sent to judicial custody.
During questioning, Sushma Kumari reportedly told investigators that Abhay Tiwari had taken her and Akshay Tiwari to Bokaro, where they were allegedly made to memorise answers to at least 70 questions related to the CGL examination.
The investigation agency is now examining how the alleged answers to examination questions reached the accused and whether a larger network was involved in the alleged malpractice.
Investigators are also looking into the communication between candidates and other suspects, as well as possible financial transactions linked to the case.
With Sameer Kumar’s arrest, the CID is expected to intensify its investigation into the alleged examination irregularities. Further details about the suspected network and the roles of other individuals may emerge as questioning and evidence collection continue.
The allegations remain under investigation, and the accused will be subject to due legal process.
