New Delhi, Aug 29: Infosys Public Services CEO Lax Gopisetty has become unreachable amid the severe flooding in Nepal, prompting efforts by his company and relevant authorities to establish contact with him.
Infosys said Gopisetty was travelling in the region for personal reasons when the disaster occurred. The company is working with agencies concerned to obtain information about his whereabouts and assess his safety.The IT major said its immediate priority was to ensure the well-being of the senior executive.
It is also maintaining communication with his family and extending necessary support during the ongoing crisis.Gopisetty is the head of Infosys Public Services, a subsidiary of Infosys that focuses primarily on technology services for public-sector organisations in the United States and Canada.
His loss of contact comes as parts of Nepal face a serious flood emergency, with flash floods disrupting transportation and communications and triggering rescue and search operations.The disaster has also affected Indian nationals. The Ministry of External Affairs has said that hundreds of Indians were reported missing or stranded in areas affected by the flooding along the Nepal-Tibet border.
India has expressed its readiness to provide assistance to Nepal as rescue and relief efforts continue.There is currently no official confirmation about Gopisetty’s location or condition. Efforts are continuing to establish contact with him as authorities respond to the wider flood emergency.
