New Delhi, Aug 27: A 21-year-old Delhi University student was allegedly stabbed to death at her residence in the Tilak Nagar area of West Delhi, with police suspecting that a man known to her was behind the attack.The victim was a second-year student of Delhi University’s School of Open Learning and lived with her family in a building near Mangla Hospital, according to police.
The accused, identified as 26-year-old Imran, allegedly went to the woman’s home on Wednesday evening when she was alone. Police said an argument broke out between the two, following which he allegedly attacked her with a knife before fleeing from the spot.Investigators suspect that the accused had been angry with the woman for the past two months over her communication with another person.
Police are examining this as a possible motive behind the alleged attack.According to investigators, the woman and the accused had known each other for around one-and-a-half years. Police also said the two had met at a hotel on August 20.
CCTV footage from the area reportedly showed the accused entering the building at around 5:40 pm on Wednesday. Investigators are examining surveillance footage and other evidence to trace his movements after the incident.The accused is currently absconding.
Delhi Police have formed around 15 teams to locate and apprehend him.Investigators are questioning people familiar with the victim and the accused and examining evidence collected from the scene as part of the probe.
Police are also working to establish the precise sequence of events leading up to the alleged stabbing and determine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.The investigation is ongoing, and the allegations against the accused will be subject to further investigation and judicial proceedings.
