Chatra, Aug 26: Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JLKM) leader Devendra Nath Mahto has alleged widespread irregularities in government recruitment examinations in the state and called for major reforms to ensure a transparent selection process.Addressing a gathering during the “Recruitment System Reform Yatra” in Chatra, Mahto claimed that recruitment-related irregularities had affected 45 examinations over the past 26 years.
He alleged that 22 examinations had been cancelled and inquiries ordered into 17 others, and questioned what action had been taken against those responsible for the alleged malpractice.Mahto said the issue was not confined to any particular political regime and alleged that successive governments had failed to establish a recruitment system that candidates could fully trust.
He demanded accountability for anyone found responsible for manipulating or compromising recruitment examinations, irrespective of their position.“Our campaign is aimed at securing accountability and reform in the recruitment system,” Mahto said, stressing that action should follow wherever wrongdoing is established.
The JLKM leader had earlier participated in the same campaign in Hazaribagh, where students and government job aspirants reportedly raised concerns over examination-related issues.Mahto said the participation of young people reflected growing frustration among job aspirants across Jharkhand’s 24 districts.
He maintained that candidates were seeking concrete reforms and effective action rather than assurances.The campaign has called for measures to improve transparency, strengthen examination procedures and ensure that candidates receive a fair opportunity in government recruitment.
