New Delhi, Aug 20: A programme organised by members of the Bihar State Transgender Welfare Board at the Press Club of India here on Thursday saw the recitation of a booklet titled “Modi Chalisa” and an aarti before a cutout depicting Prime Minister Narendra Modi as Lord Shri Ram.

The participants also raised slogans including “Jai Jai Modi, Har Har Modi” and chanted “Om Narendra Modi Namah” during the programme.

The event was organised to announce a proposal for a grand temple dedicated to Modi in Patna, according to the board members.

Dr Rajan Singh, Vice President of the Bihar Transgender Welfare Board, said the proposed temple would come up on around five acres of land at an estimated cost of Rs 112 crore. He said the board was awaiting government approval and land allocation for the project.

“The process of building a grand temple in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will soon begin in Patna, Bihar,” Singh said.

He said a gold idol of Modi would be installed in the temple and the statue would depict him in the form of Lord Shri Ram.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi is like Lord Shri Ram. He is an incarnation of Shri Ram,” Singh said.

“Modi’s statue will be in the form of Shri Ram,” he added.

Singh also said members of the transgender community would recite the “Modi Chalisa” every Thursday until construction of the proposed temple begins.

“‘Narendra Modi is my idol, and the transgender community will oppose any offensive comments against him,” he said.

The programme was attended by Kinnar Mahamandaleshwar Shri Vaishnavi Kinnar Sen Williams, Namah Bharat and other members of the transgender community.

The Press Club of India, however, clarified that it had not organised the programme. In a statement, the club said the event “was not organized by the club” and that an outside organisation had rented its hall for a press conference.

The development comes amid the board members’ stated plans to establish a temple in Modi’s name in Patna, with the proposed project and its funding still subject to the requisite government approvals and land allocation.:::
