Ranchi, Aug. 4: Job aspirants protesting alleged paper leaks and irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and other agencies have demanded an independent inquiry by a panel of retired High Court judges from outside the state, expressing a lack of confidence in the ongoing CID investigation.
The protesters, who have been staging an indefinite sit-in in Ranchi since July 29, alleged that the state government was attempting to shield those responsible by assigning the investigation to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). They reiterated their demand for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe, alleging large-scale irregularities and financial transactions linked to the recruitment process.
The agitation has gathered support from student groups and several other organisations, adding momentum to the protest over the alleged examination irregularities.
Escalating their campaign, the protesters warned of intensifying the agitation if their demands remain unmet. As part of the next phase of the movement, they have announced a march to the Jharkhand Assembly on August 10.
Meanwhile, one of the protest leaders has been on an indefinite hunger strike since Sunday, demanding that the investigation be handed over to a central agency.
No official response from the Jharkhand government, the CID or the JPSC was immediately available on the protesters’ latest demands. The allegations made by the protesters have not been independently verified.
