New Delhi, Aug. 4 : Parliament on Tuesday witnessed repeated disruptions by Opposition members over a range of issues even as both Houses cleared key legislative business before adjourning for the day.
The Lok Sabha passed the Appropriation (No. 3) Bill, 2026 by voice vote amid protests from Opposition MPs, while the Rajya Sabha approved the Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which had already been passed by the Lower House last week.
Proceedings in both Houses were interrupted several times as Opposition members raised issues including the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, police action against protesters during the July 20 Parliament March in Delhi, and the Cauvery water dispute.
Despite the disruptions, the government continued with its legislative agenda. Both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were adjourned for the day and will reconvene at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
Outside Parliament, Opposition MPs staged demonstrations on the same issues, intensifying the political confrontation during the ongoing Monsoon Session.
On Monday, the Lok Sabha had passed a Bill to increase the sanctioned strength of judges in the Supreme Court without discussion amid persistent protests, while the Rajya Sabha cleared the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Amendment) Bill, 2026. The Opposition had disrupted proceedings over police action against students protesting at Jantar Mantar and allegations related to the alleged theft of offerings at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
