New Delhi, Aug. 1 : The Delhi government on Friday launched the online registration process for the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana, a flagship welfare scheme aimed at providing direct financial assistance to eligible women across the national capital.

According to official figures, the scheme witnessed a strong response soon after the registration portal went live, with more than 33,000 registrations completed within the first 12 hours. Out of these, 1,940 applicants successfully completed and submitted their applications for verification.

Under the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana, eligible women will receive financial assistance of ₹2,500 every month through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The initiative is intended to strengthen the financial independence of women and provide regular income support to economically eligible beneficiaries.

The Delhi government has earmarked ₹5,110 crore for the implementation of the scheme in the 2026-27 Budget, reflecting its commitment to expanding social welfare programmes for women.

Officials said the online registration portal has been developed to ensure a simple, transparent and paperless application process. Applicants are required to provide the prescribed documents and eligibility details, following which their applications will undergo scrutiny before approval.

The government expects the number of registrations to rise significantly in the coming days as awareness about the scheme increases. Authorities have urged eligible women to register only through the official portal and ensure that all information submitted is accurate to avoid delays during the verification process.

The Delhi Lakshmi Yojana is one of the key welfare initiatives announced in the 2026-27 Budget and is expected to benefit a large number of women by providing regular financial support and enhancing their economic security.
