New Delhi, Aug. 1: A young woman from Noida, whose video allegedly showed her using abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a protest organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), has issued an apology, saying the incident was her “first and last mistake”.In a video circulating on social media, the individual said she was influenced by groups present at the protest venue and expressed regret over the remarks.
She claimed that some people at the site were using abusive language and encouraging others to make similar comments.She said she was ashamed of her actions and apologised to the nation. In the video, she also claimed to be 15 years old.However, police officials said her age was being verified, as the information available in the FIR reportedly mentioned 1994 as her year of birth. Senior Delhi Police officials said they had taken note of the apology video and would decide the future course of action after examining the facts.The Noida Police had initially registered a zero FIR on Wednesday following a complaint filed by a Ghaziabad resident at the Expressway Police Station.
A zero FIR allows a complaint to be registered at any police station regardless of where the alleged offence occurred and is later transferred to the police station with jurisdiction over the matter.The case was subsequently transferred to the Parliament Street Police Station in Delhi.
According to police, the FIR includes provisions related to alleged intentional insult that could provoke a breach of peace, statements potentially causing public mischief and defamation.The development comes amid separate action by Delhi Police over allegedly objectionable and defamatory social media content directed at the Prime Minister during the protests at Jantar Mantar.
Police have reportedly asked social media platforms to remove content found to be in violation of applicable laws.Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi said he wished to forgive the children who had used abusive language against him and his late mother.
In a video message, he said that punishment or prolonged court proceedings would not necessarily change the circumstances and appealed to society to accept and guide them.The investigation remains underway, with police continuing to verify the identity, age and other details related to the case.
