Patna, Jul 31: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday expressed confidence that its candidate Neeraj Kumar Sinha would win the Bankipur Assembly by-election, claiming that the party had received strong support from voters in the constituency.
Addressing a press conference ahead of the declaration of the results, BJP national spokesperson Ajay Alok said the people of Bankipur had once again backed the party and that Sinha was headed for victory.
Alok alleged that the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Congress and Jan Suraaj had attempted to create a political combination to defeat the BJP but claimed that the strategy had failed to influence voters.
He said the BJP’s confidence was based on the party’s organisational strength, the response received by its candidate during the campaign and its continued support base in the constituency.
The BJP spokesperson maintained that voters had preferred the party’s development agenda and leadership over the opposition’s electoral strategy. The Bankipur by-election has drawn political attention as it is being viewed as an important test of the BJP’s strength in the Patna region and an assessment of the opposition’s ability to challenge the party.
The BJP said a victory for Sinha would reinforce its position in the constituency and reflect continued public confidence in the party. The party’s statements were made before the official announcement of the election results, and the final outcome will be determined after the completion of counting and declaration by the Election Commission.
