New Delhi, July 30: Several BJP Members of Parliament, including representatives from Jharkhand, staged a protest on the Parliament premises on Thursday over the alleged leak of a Jharkhand Public Service Commission examination paper and demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry into the matter.
The BJP leaders also called for the resignation of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, alleging that the state government had failed to ensure transparency and accountability in the conduct of public examinations.
Union Minister and BJP leader Sanjay Seth backed the demand for a CBI investigation and urged the Congress to seek Soren’s resignation and withdraw its support from the JMM-led government in Jharkhand.
Speaking to Akashvani News outside Parliament, Seth said the issue required an independent and thorough investigation to establish the facts and identify those responsible.
BJP MP Bidyut Baran Mahato alleged that corruption was widespread under the JMM-Congress government and claimed that examination-related irregularities had become frequent in the state. He supported the demand for a CBI inquiry into the alleged JPSC paper leak.
The allegations have added to the political confrontation between the BJP and the ruling alliance in Jharkhand. There was no immediate response from the state government to the BJP’s demands.
Commenting on the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, Seth said detailed discussions on the proposed legislation continued late into the night in the Lok Sabha and were expected to continue on Thursday.
He said the Central Government remained committed to protecting the interests of young people and ensuring fairness in public examinations. Seth added that the government would fulfil the commitments made to the country’s youth.
