Hyderabad, July 29 : An IndiGo flight from Delhi to Hyderabad carrying Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy made a precautionary go-around before landing safely at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Wednesday evening after encountering an unstable approach caused by heavy rain.
According to airline officials, Flight 6E-717 initiated the go-around after the crew assessed that weather conditions did not permit a stable landing on the first attempt.
“The crew initiated a go-around following an unstable approach due to heavy rain in Hyderabad. The aircraft landed safely on the second attempt. All safety protocols were followed,” an IndiGo official said.
A go-around is a standard aviation safety procedure in which pilots discontinue a landing attempt and climb back to make another approach if conditions are deemed unsuitable for a safe touchdown.
Flight tracking data showed that the aircraft departed Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport at around 6:15 pm, approximately 20 minutes behind schedule. It landed safely in Hyderabad shortly before 9:00 pm, over 30 minutes later than its scheduled arrival time.
There were no reports of injuries or technical issues, and all passengers, including the Chief Minister, safely disembarked after landing.
The incident comes just two days after another IndiGo aircraft operating from Dubai to Mumbai made a precautionary emergency landing at Rajkot International Airport following a suspected technical issue.
According to airport authorities, the Dubai-Mumbai flight was diverted after the pilot reported suspected smoke in the cargo hold. The aircraft landed safely, and a subsequent inspection by the airline’s technical team found no evidence of fire.
The two incidents highlight the aviation industry’s emphasis on safety protocols, with airlines reiterating that precautionary measures such as go-arounds and emergency landings are standard operating procedures designed to ensure passenger safety whenever flight conditions warrant them.
