Ranchi, July 29: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Wednesday directed officials to expedite power grid and transmission line projects across the state, stressing the need for timely completion of electricity infrastructure works to ensure uninterrupted and quality power supply to consumers.

Chairing a high-level review meeting of the Energy Department at Project Bhawan in Ranchi, the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of key power infrastructure projects, including grid expansion, transmission line development, technical issues affecting the electricity network, and delays in project implementation.

Soren instructed district administrations and senior officials to resolve all pending electricity-related issues within a fixed timeline and remove bottlenecks hindering infrastructure development.

He specifically directed the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) and the Deputy Commissioners of Hazaribagh, Bokaro and Dhanbad to immediately address issues related to power grids and transmission lines. Officials were asked to resolve technical problems without delay, coordinate with concerned departments for faster clearances and complete pending works within the prescribed timeframe.

“Issues related to power grids and transmission lines should be resolved without delay, and pending electricity infrastructure projects must be completed within the prescribed timeline,” the Chief Minister said during the meeting.

Emphasising the need for better coordination, Soren said delays caused by forest clearances or administrative hurdles should be addressed promptly to prevent disruptions in infrastructure development.

“A strong and efficient transmission network is essential to provide uninterrupted and quality electricity supply across Jharkhand,” he said.

The Chief Minister also directed all Deputy Commissioners to ensure electricity-related projects in their respective districts are completed on schedule and monitored closely for timely execution.

The meeting also reviewed the implementation of the state’s electricity welfare initiatives. Soren instructed officials to ensure transparent and timely delivery of benefits so that every eligible consumer receives assistance without unnecessary delays.

Among the key welfare measures reviewed were free electricity up to 200 units for around 39.44 lakh consumers, waiver of pending electricity bills for eligible beneficiaries, and an incentive of five units of free electricity for individuals who plant a tree under the state’s environmental conservation initiative.

“The benefits of electricity welfare schemes, including free electricity, must reach every eligible consumer in a transparent and timely manner,” the Chief Minister said.

The state government reiterated its commitment to strengthening Jharkhand’s power infrastructure through faster grid expansion, improved transmission networks and efficient implementation of consumer welfare schemes to ensure reliable electricity supply for households, businesses and industries.
