Ranchi, July 27: Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri on Monday took a stern view of delays in revenue-related matters during the weekly Janta Darbar at the Ranchi Collectorate, ordering show-cause notices against several officials and directing prompt redressal of public grievances.

The public hearing witnessed complaints from residents of various blocks on issues related to land disputes, mutation of land records, Register-2 corrections, social security schemes, ration cards, the Abua Housing Scheme and requests for medical assistance.

Emphasising timely disposal of grievances, the Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned departments to ensure swift and effective action. Taking serious note of alleged negligence in revenue matters, he ordered disciplinary action against officials accused of delaying public services.

A show-cause notice was issued to the Sonahatu Circle Officer after a complainant alleged that a court-approved mutation case had remained pending despite receiving the necessary permissions. The Deputy Commissioner also directed a detailed inquiry and issued a show-cause notice to the Revenue Officer and the In-charge Zonal Inspector of Sonahatu over alleged delays in Register-2 corrections.

In another case from Tamar, Bhajantri directed issuance of show-cause notices against the Revenue Officer and Zonal Inspector after allegations that revenue work had remained pending despite submission of all required documents.

The Deputy Commissioner also ordered an investigation into a complaint by a woman from Itki, who alleged an attempt to fraudulently transfer her ancestral land after it had been mortgaged. Officials have been directed to take appropriate legal action based on the findings of the inquiry.

Addressing a land dispute raised by villagers from Bayasi village in Chanho block, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the concerned Circle Officer to convene a Gram Sabha and resolve the matter through mutual consent in accordance with legal provisions.

The Janta Darbar also heard humanitarian cases. Bhajantri directed the Civil Surgeon to extend all possible medical assistance to a family seeking financial support for the treatment of their child undergoing treatment at AIIMS, New Delhi. In another case, he instructed the District Education Superintendent and the Social Welfare Officer to facilitate institutional education and government assistance for an autistic child after the child’s parents sought support.

During the hearing, a resident of Rahe block voluntarily surrendered his pink ration card, stating that his family’s financial condition had improved. The Deputy Commissioner appealed to all ineligible beneficiaries to voluntarily surrender their ration cards so that deserving and needy families could avail the benefits of the public distribution system.

“Unnecessary delays, negligence, or corruption in the work of ordinary citizens will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” Bhajantri said.

He further directed all officers and employees to function with greater accountability and sensitivity.

“All officers and employees must work with transparency, accountability, and sensitivity, ensuring timely resolution of public problems,” the Deputy Commissioner said.

Officials said the district administration will continue to closely monitor grievance redressal and take strict action against any lapses in public service delivery.
