Ranchi, July 27: The Jharkhand Flying Institute (JFI) is set to launch Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) and Air Hostess training programmes during the state’s Foundation Day celebrations in November, marking a significant step towards strengthening aviation skill development in eastern India. The programmes will commence after obtaining approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
To operationalise the initiative, the institute has signed separate Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with M/s Veneur, Delhi, for the AME programme and AISECT Limited, Bhopal, for the Air Hostess training programme. Both courses will be offered at the Jharkhand Flying Institute campus in Dhanbad under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
Officials said the initiative is expected to benefit students from Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha and Chhattisgarh by enabling them to pursue government-supported aviation training within the region, thereby reducing travel and education costs.
The three-year AME programme will have an intake of 60 students and a total course fee of ₹6 lakh, payable in three annual instalments of ₹2 lakh each. The course is aimed at meeting the growing demand for qualified aircraft maintenance engineers in India’s expanding aviation sector.
The institute will also offer two Air Hostess training programmes—a six-month certificate course and a one-year diploma course—with 60 seats each. The certificate course will cost ₹1,00,500, while the diploma course will cost ₹1,55,500. The fee includes uniforms, grooming kits and swimming training. Applications for both Air Hostess courses are open until July 30.
The state government said the AME programme will be implemented under the PPP model, with M/s Veneur responsible for execution. Officials added that the arrangement would not impose any additional financial burden on either the state government or the Jharkhand Flying Institute.
Jharkhand Flying Institute Managing Director Captain S.P. Sinha said preparations for the new programmes had been completed following Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s directions to strengthen aviation skill development in the state.
He said the new programmes would create career opportunities for young people while helping address the shortage of skilled aviation professionals in the country.
Officials said the initiative is expected to strengthen aviation training infrastructure in eastern India, expand access to quality aviation education and generate greater employment opportunities for aspiring professionals in the sector.
