Ranchi, July 14: The ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Jharkhand has covered nearly 95 per cent of the state’s 2.64 crore electors, with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) reaching over 2.51 crore voters through door-to-door visits, officials said on Tuesday.
According to the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), BLOs have so far reached 94.96 per cent of the total electorate, covering 2,51,28,733 voters, as part of the statewide enumeration exercise that began on June 30 and will continue till July 29.
“BLOs have successfully reached out to 94.96 per cent of the total electorate, covering 2,51,28,733 voters, and made enumeration forms available to eligible Indian citizens through house-to-house visits,” the CEO’s office said.
Officials said the BLOs are distributing, collecting and verifying enumeration forms during the ongoing house-to-house campaign. More than 41.27 per cent of the collected enumeration forms have already been digitised.
As part of the revision process, joint meetings of Booth Level Officers (BLOs), Booth Level Agents (BLA-2) and ‘Chunav Pathshala’ were organised at polling stations across the state on Tuesday to strengthen public participation and improve the accuracy of electoral rolls.
Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar, who attended the programme in Lohardaga district, said the meetings focused on preparing draft lists of Absent, Shifted, Dead and Duplicate (ASDD) voters from the pool of unmapped electors.
“Chunav Pathshala along with joint meetings of BLOs and BLA-2 were organised at all polling stations across the state. During the programme, BLOs read out the list of absent, shifted, dead, duplicate and ‘refused to sign’ (non-Indian) voters from the electoral roll before the people,” Kumar said.
He also urged BLOs, BLAs and members of Chunav Pathshala to work collectively for the successful completion of the Special Intensive Revision exercise. The next joint meeting of BLOs and BLAs has been scheduled for July 22.
Officials said 82.08 per cent of parental mapping with the 2003 electoral rolls has been completed, while nearly 47.41 lakh electors are yet to be mapped.
As per the election schedule, the draft electoral rolls will be published on August 5, after which electors can file claims and objections till September 4. The Election Commission will dispose of all claims and objections between August 5 and October 3, and the final electoral rolls will be published on October 7.
