Ranchi, July 11: The Jharkhand government has granted administrative approval for the implementation of Jharkhand Integrated Mines and Mineral Management System (JIMMS) Version 2.0, an upgraded digital platform aimed at strengthening surveillance and curbing illegal mining, transportation, and storage of minerals across the state.

The Department of Mines and Geology has issued an official order for the implementation of the project, which has already received approval from the State Cabinet.

The upgraded system is expected to enhance transparency, improve regulatory oversight, and streamline the management of mining operations.

According to officials, the project will be implemented over a six-year period, from 2025-26 to 2030-31, at an estimated cost of ₹27.72 crore.

JIMMS is a legally recognised online platform that manages key mining-related processes, including the issuance of mineral transportation permits, challan generation, monitoring of mineral movement, and revenue collection.

The upgraded version is expected to improve operational efficiency through enhanced digital monitoring and real-time data management.

The government said JIMMS Version 2.0 will strengthen oversight of mining activities, improve compliance with mining regulations, and help reduce revenue losses caused by illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.

The platform will also support continuous monitoring, enabling authorities to detect irregularities more effectively and take prompt enforcement action.

Officials believe the upgraded system will play a significant role in modernising Jharkhand’s mining administration by promoting transparency, accountability, and technology-driven governance.

The initiative is expected to contribute to better mineral resource management while reinforcing efforts to combat illegal mining across the state.
