Panaji, March 18: A software engineer and content creator has drawn widespread attention online after sharing a detailed breakdown of her monthly expenses of around ₹82,000 while living अकेले in Goa, offering a realistic glimpse into the cost of life in the coastal state.

In a video posted on social media, the woman outlined her expenditures, stating that a significant portion of her budget goes toward fixed costs. According to her, she pays ₹26,000 as monthly rent, while ₹25,000 is spent on car loan EMI, together accounting for more than half of her total expenses.

Her routine monthly spending includes approximately ₹7,000 on food and groceries and around ₹3,000 on fuel. Utility expenses, including electricity, water, Wi-Fi, and maintenance, amount to nearly ₹5,000–₹6,000 per month.

In addition, she allocates ₹1,000 for gym membership and keeps aside nearly ₹15,000 for miscellaneous expenses such as travel, personal care, and other unpredictable costs.

The tech professional also highlighted the role of content creation in managing her finances. She noted that brand collaborations and PR benefits help her save on expenses like makeup, skincare, clothing, and occasionally dining.

“A lot of people ask what it actually costs to live alone in Goa, so here’s my approximate monthly expense breakdown as a single woman,” she said in the post.

She further added, “Because of content creation, I’m really grateful that I save quite a bit on makeup, skincare, haircare and sometimes clothes through PR.”

Despite the high cost of living, she emphasised the importance of financial planning, stating that she actively saves and invests for her retirement and future travel plans.

The post has since gone viral, triggering mixed reactions from social media users. While some described the expenses as high but manageable, others questioned certain figures, particularly fuel and grocery costs.

A section of users also expressed concern over rising living expenses in Goa, attributing it to increasing migration into the state. “We don’t need more settlers. It’s getting more expensive due to high demand,” a user commented.

The discussion highlights growing concerns around affordability in popular lifestyle destinations like Goa, where the cost of living continues to rise amid increasing demand.
