Ranchi, Jan 20: Students of the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication and the Department of English at Usha Martin University participated in a Coffee with the Author programme titled Words and Brews, held at BNR Chanakya on Saturday.

The programme featured an interactive session with renowned author and poet Shobha Tharoor, who engaged students in a one-on-one conversation on literature, writing practices, and the evolving challenges of communication in an era shaped by Gen Alpha language and digital expression. She encouraged students to remain grounded in clarity, reading, and reflective writing while adapting to changing modes of expression.

Women’s rights activist and founder of Phulkari, Praneet Bubber, addressed students on communication as a powerful tool for women’s empowerment. She spoke on the role of confident expression, narrative building, and public dialogue in advancing social change.

The programme was attended by students of the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication and the Department of English, along with Head of the Faculty, Dr. Shahnaaz Zabi, and Dr. Shimpi Kumari from the Department of English. The session provided a meaningful platform for academic exchange, dialogue, and reflection on contemporary communication practices.
