Assam, Dec 23: Police in Assam’s Rangia town have detained a youth for allegedly posting a controversial video on social media that reportedly supported the killing of a Hindu man in Bangladesh, officials said on Tuesday.

The accused has been identified as Mohammad Shaif Akhtar Ali, a resident of Ward No. 3 in Rangia. According to reports, the video was circulated through Facebook and Instagram accounts operating under the name “BOLLO CHAIWALA.”

The video, which allegedly contained sensitive and provocative content, drew public attention and concern, prompting swift action by the police.

Following its circulation, law enforcement authorities detained the youth for questioning and launched an investigation into the matter.

Police officials stated that they are currently examining the content of the video as well as the social media accounts linked to it. Further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, authorities have urged the public to maintain restraint and refrain from sharing or promoting content that could disrupt communal harmony or public order.
