New delhi, Dec 18: The All India Football Federation (AIFF) Disciplinary Committee has imposed stringent sanctions on Sikkim Dragons FC, including heavy financial penalties and multi-match suspensions, following a violent altercation during the Governor’s Gold Cup 2025–26.

After a formal investigation, the committee found the club and several of its personnel guilty of violating Article 52 of the AIFF Disciplinary Code (2024), which deals with incidents of brawling. The committee was headed by Acting Chairperson Mahesh Thakur, with members Prahalad Bhat, Soumitra Bose, and Chitta Ranjan Das Majumdar.

As part of the disciplinary action, Sikkim Dragons FC has been fined Rs. 75,000. In addition, multiple players and one key official identified as being directly involved in the incident have each been fined Rs. 20,000 and handed multi-match suspensions.

In an official notification signed by Adv. Mihir Kherud, Secretary of the AIFF Disciplinary Committee, the federation directed that all fines must be paid directly to the AIFF headquarters in New Delhi by January 12, 2026.

The AIFF also clarified that, under the disciplinary code, the club is jointly liable for the payment of fines imposed on its affiliated individuals. Those penalised have been given a period of 10 days to request the detailed grounds of the decision, failing which the sanctions will be deemed final and binding.

The latest action underscores the AIFF’s zero-tolerance stance on on-field violence and reflects its commitment under the “Vision 2047” initiative to uphold discipline, professionalism, and the integrity of Indian football.
