Gender inequality faced by women must end, says Kathak dancer Parvati Dutta

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Mar 10: Kathak dancer Parvati Dutta has called for an end to gender inequality, saying qualities such as affection, compassion, forgiveness and generosity are present in both men and women.

Speaking at a felicitation programme organised by the Make Them Smile Foundation on Monday to mark International Women’s Day, Dutta said society should move towards greater equality and mutual respect.

The event honoured women who have made notable contributions in different fields.Foundation president Dr Shrirang Deshpande presided over the programme, while vice-president Ashok Jadhav was present.

Animal rescuer Karuna Bramhe, researcher Dr Sangeeta Dongre, newspaper vendor Sukeshini Jadhav, patent researcher Dr Ranjana Shastri and gym trainer Shalini Kadam were felicitated during the event.

The awardees were presented with a shawl, a sapling, a book and a citation in recognition of their contributions.Dr Nagesh Ankush introduced the awardees, while Neena Nikalje compered the programme. General secretary Ujjwala Nikalje proposed the vote of thanks.
