Jamshedpur, August 10: Loyola School in Jamshedpur held a special assembly on Wednesday to mark a leadership transition, bidding farewell to Rector Fr. K.M. Joseph and welcoming his successor, Fr. Mike Thanaraj.
The event, attended by faculty, students, and staff, began with a tribute to Shibu Soren, the late tribal leader, veteran politician, former Jharkhand chief minister and founder of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. Speakers hailed his integrity, humility and role in shaping the state’s tribal politics.
School leaders, including Principal Fr. Vinod Fernandes and former principals Fr. Victor Misquith and Fr. Cyril Tigga, joined vice principals Mrs. Jayanthi Sheshadri and Mrs. Vineeta Ekka for the ceremony. A sapling was presented to Fr. Joseph by Fr. Thanaraj, symbolising gratitude and continuity.

Student tributes included a farewell speech by Nishtha Deo and a musical performance, while Anurag Arbind introduced the new rector. The programme ended with the school anthem, underscoring the community’s commitment to tradition, service and leadership as it embarks on a new chapter under Fr. Thanaraj’s guidance.
