Kolkata, Dec 31: Union Home Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Amit Shah arrived in West Bengal on Monday evening to take part in a series of organisational meetings and party programmes.
Shah was received at Dum Dum Airport by BJP West Bengal President Samik Bhattacharya and Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, along with other senior party leaders.
During his visit, the Home Minister is scheduled to hold several high-level meetings with state party office-bearers over the next two days.
The discussions are expected to focus on organisational strengthening and electoral strategies for the upcoming elections.
Shah’s first key organisational meeting is slated to be held in Bidhannagar on Tuesday.
He is also likely to review the party’s performance at the booth and district levels and chalk out plans to expand the BJP’s outreach across the state.
The visit is being seen as significant as the party steps up preparations for the forthcoming polls in West Bengal.
