Usha Martin University holds free eye check-up camp, over 90 participate

Ranchi, Aug. 3: Usha Martin University, in collaboration with ARAM Eye Hospital, Irba (a unit of Medanta Hospital), organised a free eye check-up camp on campus as part of its preventive healthcare initiative, drawing an encouraging response from students, faculty members and non-teaching staff.

Organised by the University’s Health Services Committee, the first day of the camp recorded more than 90 registrations. Participants underwent comprehensive eye examinations, vision testing, cataract screening, and received expert consultation and counselling from a team of ophthalmologists, optometrists and healthcare professionals from ARAM Eye Hospital.

The initiative was aimed at promoting awareness about eye health while encouraging the early detection and treatment of vision-related disorders among the university community.The programme was attended by Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajni Kant, Pro Vice Chancellor (Academics) Prof. Sanjaya Mishra, Pro Vice Chancellor (Administration) Brigadier Sumar Vir Singh, Registrar Dr. Shiv Pratap Verma, Campus Director Dr. Anil Kumar Mishra, Dean Academics Prof. B. N. Sinha, and Head of the Department of Physiotherapy Dr. Akansha Anand.

The dignitaries appreciated the collaborative effort of the Health Services Committee and ARAM Eye Hospital in strengthening preventive healthcare and promoting the well-being of students and staff.As part of its outreach activities under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), the University will continue the programme on August 4 with door-to-door eye screening and awareness campaigns in its adopted villages of Angara, Narayansoso, Jannum, Childag and Salhan.

The medical team will conduct basic eye examinations, identify individuals requiring advanced treatment and spread awareness about eye care and preventive measures.The University thanked the medical team of ARAM Eye Hospital for its support and expressed confidence in the successful completion of the second phase of the programme, including the village outreach initiative.
