No one can stop BJP in tribal areas, says Tripura CM Manik Saha in Khowai

Agartala, Dec 24: Ahead of the elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), Chief Minister Manik Saha on Monday launched a sharp attack on alliance partner Tipra Motha Party, accusing it of breaching alliance discipline and making statements aimed at politically isolating the BJP in tribal areas.

Addressing a public gathering in Khowai district, Saha strongly rejected claims made by Tipra Motha leaders that the BJP would be barred from functioning within the TTAADC.

He asserted that no political party has the authority to prevent the BJP from organising programmes or working for the welfare of tribal communities in the state.

“No one can stop us from holding party programmes. We believe in dialogue, not unrest. Our politics is rooted in law and order,” the chief minister said, adding that the BJP has always upheld democratic values and does not believe in chaos or unruliness.

Reiterating that the BJP came to power in Tripura in 2018 through democratic means, Saha said the party has never resorted to coercion or intimidation.

He alleged that certain political forces were attempting to create pressure through threats and political posturing.
Drawing an analogy to global developments, the chief minister compared such political intimidation to external threats faced by the country.

Referring to Operation Sindoor, he said that just as Pakistan had once attempted to intimidate India with nuclear threats, similar tactics were now being employed in local politics.

While stressing that the BJP respects coalition norms, Saha said repeated violations by alliance partners could not be ignored.

Citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s handling of coalition politics at the national level, he remarked that irresponsible conduct had no place in Tripura’s political culture.

The chief minister also reaffirmed the BJP’s commitment to inclusive development in line with the Prime Minister’s vision for women, youth, farmers and the underprivileged.

Highlighting development work in the Ramchandraghat constituency, he said projects worth Rs 126 crore had been implemented over the past few years.

Responding to allegations made by a Tipra Motha MLA from Ramchandraghat, Saha criticised the inconsistency of leaders who, he said, had shifted from praising the BJP to criticising it without justification. He added that people would ultimately reject divisive politics and recognise genuine development efforts.

As the TTAADC elections draw closer, the chief minister’s remarks underscore the BJP’s determination to maintain its political presence in Tripura’s tribal areas while emphasising democratic processes and development-driven governance.
