Ranchi, July 16: The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has issued notices to 10 commercial establishments for allegedly converting basement parking areas into commercial spaces, violating approved building regulations.
The action was taken during an anti-encroachment drive carried out on Wednesday from Harmu Mukti Dham to Sahjanand Chowk.
According to municipal officials, inspections revealed that several buildings had used spaces reserved exclusively for vehicle parking as shops, offices, or other commercial units.
Such violations reduce parking availability and contribute to traffic congestion by forcing vehicles onto public roads.
The RMC has directed the owners of the identified buildings to submit all relevant legal documents within the prescribed time for verification.
The civic body will examine whether the buildings comply with sanctioned building plans and municipal rules before taking further action.
Municipal authorities also reiterated that basements and designated parking areas must be used solely for vehicle parking.
Any commercial use of these spaces will invite strict action under the applicable provisions of municipal laws.
As part of the same anti-encroachment campaign, the civic body removed illegal tile flooring and other temporary structures constructed on public land along roadside areas.
The drive is aimed at clearing encroachments, improving traffic movement, and ensuring better compliance with urban planning regulations across Ranchi.
The Ranchi Municipal Corporation stated that similar enforcement drives will continue in other parts of the city to curb illegal encroachments and ensure that public spaces and designated parking areas are used for their intended purposes.
