Rishabh Pant seeks Uttarakhand government help to purchase land, build first home

Dehradun, Aug 8: Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant has approached Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami seeking assistance in purchasing land in the state, saying he wants to move back from Delhi and establish his home in his native Uttarakhand.Pant made the request through posts on X on Saturday, saying he had been searching for suitable land for nearly three years but had not been able to find a property large enough for his requirements.

The cricketer said he wanted to return to his roots and contribute to the development of Uttarakhand and its people.Pant also clarified that he was not seeking government land as a gift. Instead, he said he would prefer to purchase it from the government at the applicable official rates.

He sought guidance on the procedure for acquiring the land.Responding to Pant, Dhami described the cricketer as the “pride of Uttarakhand” and praised his contribution to Indian cricket.The Chief Minister said Pant’s attachment to his home state and his desire to return and contribute to Uttarakhand were appreciable.

He added that officials concerned had been instructed to contact the cricketer and extend all possible assistance in accordance with government rules.Pant, 28, represents Delhi in domestic cricket and continues to be an important member of India’s Test squad.

He is currently part of the India A team playing a three-day unofficial Test against Sri Lanka Cricket XI in Colombo. The match comes ahead of India’s two-Test series against Sri Lanka, scheduled to begin in Galle on August 15.

The development has drawn attention as Pant looks to establish a permanent base in the state where he has his roots, while the Uttarakhand government has indicated that it will facilitate his request through the prescribed legal and administrative process.
