Ranchi, Jul 31: The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has identified 51 allegedly illegal structures during an ongoing campaign against unauthorised construction and encroachment on government land, officials said on Friday.

As part of the drive, the civic body has removed 15 unauthorised structures and issued notices in connection with the remaining cases. Further action will be taken after completing the required legal and administrative procedures.

During the campaign, officials found 12 families living on government land near the Birsa Awas Yojana site on East Jail Road. The families were asked to vacate the area and were given time to make alternative housing arrangements.

According to the civic body, the affected residents were informed about the Birsa Awas Yojana and the process for seeking housing-related assistance. Notices and relevant information were also provided to eligible families to help them complete the required formalities.

Officials said the campaign is aimed at protecting government land, preventing unauthorised construction and ensuring the planned use of public property. The authorities added that action is being taken while following due process and considering the concerns of affected residents.

The RMC said inspections and verification exercises would continue in other parts of the city. Additional unauthorised structures may be identified, and action will be initiated in accordance with applicable rules.

The municipal body also stated that it would continue efforts to protect public land while ensuring that the rights and welfare-related concerns of residents are addressed during the enforcement process.
