President Murmu launches five publications highlighting four years of her presidency

New Delhi, July 28: President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday released five publications highlighting different phases of her presidency, saying the books reflect the values of inclusive democracy and aim to inspire citizens to take pride in India’s heritage while contributing to the country’s progress.

The publications, unveiled at Rashtrapati Bhavan, include Rashtrapati Bhavan: Rashtra Ka Bhavan, Seva Aur Samvedana, Samaveshi Sahbhaghita, Bharatiyata Ka Utsav, and Ama Rashtrapati – Ama Gourav, a collection of articles in Odia by eminent personalities.

Addressing the gathering, President Murmu said the publications present the traditions, functioning and evolving role of Rashtrapati Bhavan while encouraging people to uphold ethical values and participate in nation-building. She said that since assuming office on July 25, 2022, she has viewed the presidency as a responsibility and has sought to discharge her constitutional duties with dedication.

The President said she consistently encourages young people to remain guided by moral values, urges women to become self-reliant, appeals to tribal communities to preserve their cultural heritage while embracing development, and motivates members of the Indian diaspora to contribute to the country’s growth.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar described President Murmu’s journey from a tribal village in Odisha to the country’s highest constitutional office as a reflection of the strength of India’s democratic system.

He said her tenure has been marked by humility, constitutional commitment and public service.Highlighting key initiatives during her presidency, the Vice President referred to expanded public access to Rashtrapati Bhavan through facilities such as Amrit Udyan, Rashtrapati Niketan and Rashtrapati Tapovan.

He also noted efforts to make Rashtrapati Bhavan more accessible for persons with disabilities and initiatives aimed at promoting India’s cultural and constitutional heritage.He said the release of the Constitution of India in the Santhali language using the Ol Chiki script was a significant step towards preserving linguistic diversity and strengthening the country’s commitment to tribal communities.

Among other initiatives undertaken during President Murmu’s tenure are plans to make Rashtrapati Bhavan a Net Zero campus by March 2027, the availability of the official Rashtrapati Bhavan websites in 22 Indian languages, and the launch of the second edition of the e-Upahaar portal for auctioning gifts received by the President and former Presidents.

President Murmu assumed office as the 15th President of India on July 25, 2022, becoming the country’s first tribal President. During her tenure, she has also received several international honours, including the highest civilian awards from Fiji and Timor-Leste, along with honorary doctorates from Algeria and the Slovak Republic.

The publications released on Tuesday are intended to document the Presidency’s initiatives over the past four years while highlighting the values of constitutional governance, inclusivity, public service and national unity.
