New Delhi, Aug 13: President Droupadi Murmu will address the nation on Friday, August 14, on the eve of India’s 80th Independence Day, the President’s Secretariat said.
The address will be broadcast from 7 pm across the entire national network of All India Radio and will also be telecast on all Doordarshan channels.
Doordarshan will broadcast the President’s address first in Hindi, followed by the English version. Subsequently, Doordarshan’s regional channels will telecast the address in regional languages to enable wider access across the country.
All India Radio will also broadcast regional-language versions of the address on its respective regional networks at 9:30 pm, according to information released by the Press Information Bureau.
The President’s address on the eve of Independence Day is an annual national broadcast in which the Head of State reflects on the country’s journey, achievements and challenges, while conveying her message to citizens ahead of the national celebration.
India will celebrate its 80th Independence Day on August 15, 2026. The celebrations will be marked by events across the country, with the national flag and the spirit of patriotism at the centre of the observances.
The address will be available to audiences through both radio and television networks, including regional-language broadcasts, ensuring that citizens across different parts of the country can listen to the President’s message.
The Independence Day celebrations commemorate India’s independence from British rule on August 15, 1947, and are observed annually with ceremonies and programmes across the country.
