Maruti Suzuki brings AMT convenience to CNG versions of Baleno, Swift and Dzire

New Delhi, Sept 19 : Maruti Suzuki has expanded its CNG portfolio by introducing automated manual transmission (AMT) options with CNG powertrains in the Baleno, Swift and Dzire, addressing growing demand for fuel-efficient cars that also offer the convenience of two-pedal driving.

Until now, the automaker’s CNG variants in these models were available with manual transmissions. The addition of AMT is expected to broaden the appeal of CNG vehicles among buyers seeking lower running costs without having to operate a conventional manual gearbox.

The move comes as fuel expenses remain an important consideration for Indian car buyers, particularly in the mass-market segment. CNG vehicles are generally preferred by customers focused on running costs, while AMTs offer easier driving in congested urban traffic.

Maruti Suzuki has yet to announce the complete variant-wise pricing of the newly introduced CNG-AMT versions. The company has, however, confirmed the starting prices for the respective models.

The Baleno, Swift and Dzire are among Maruti Suzuki’s key offerings in India’s passenger vehicle market. By combining CNG with AMT technology, the company is extending its alternative-fuel options beyond traditional manual-transmission configurations.

Further details, including variant-specific prices and equipment, are expected to provide greater clarity on the positioning of the new CNG-AMT models in Maruti Suzuki’s line-up.
