Bokaro, April 30: A 25-year-old man was brutally murdered in Pichhri village, located under the Petarwar police station in Bokaro district, Jharkhand, police said on Tuesday.
The victim, identified as Bipul Mishra, son of Gulchand Kumar Mishra, was allegedly attacked with a tangi — a sharp, axe-like weapon — and his body was later found dumped in Birohar Beda forest. Locals discovered the body around 9 p.m. on Monday and immediately alerted the authorities.
Police arrived at the scene shortly after the alert, recovered the body, and sent it for postmortem. One person has been detained for questioning, while two suspects remain at large. A dog squad, including a sniffer dog named Newton, was deployed to assist in the investigation.
“The police informed us late at night that my brother had been murdered. His friends had called him earlier in the evening, and we were later told he was killed and the assailants had fled,” said the victim’s brother.
The incident has shaken the local community, prompting calls for swift justice. Police have intensified the investigation and are pursuing all leads to apprehend the absconding suspects.
No motive has yet been established for the crime.
