Kochi, July 23: Kerala has announced an ambitious plan to position itself as a leading national hub for artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies, with a strong focus on innovation, skill development, semiconductor research and industry collaboration.
The announcement was made during the inauguration of Naviq Technology, a new venture of IBS Software Group, at Infopark in Kochi.
The initiative is expected to strengthen Kerala’s technology ecosystem and support the development of AI-driven solutions for global industries.
Speaking at the event, Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan said the state is committed to embracing next-generation technologies to improve governance, attract investment and create employment opportunities.
He noted that the government has already introduced AI-powered tools to monitor investment projects and improve administrative efficiency.
The Chief Minister said the rapid growth of artificial intelligence is transforming industries worldwide and highlighted the need to prepare the workforce for future technological changes.
He added that the state has established a Global Job Watch Tower to assess changing employment trends and identify future skill requirements.
Based on its recommendations, Kerala plans to revise educational curricula and training programmes to equip students and professionals with skills relevant to AI and other emerging technologies.
Industries and IT Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty said the state is restructuring its technology initiatives by transforming the State IT Mission into the Future Technology Mission.
The new mission will focus on promoting innovation and integrating advanced technologies across multiple sectors.
IT Secretary Seeram Sambasiva Rao said Kerala is also expanding its presence in the semiconductor sector.
As part of the initiative, the Electronics Incubator under IIITM-K will be developed into SemiCon Kerala to encourage research, innovation and talent development in chip technologies.
Officials said the government will continue investing in skill development programmes to prepare young professionals for careers in AI, data science, electronics and other advanced technology fields.
IBS Software Founder and Executive Chairman V.K. Mathews said Naviq Technology will collaborate with airlines, airports, cruise operators, hospitality companies and travel service providers worldwide to accelerate the adoption of AI-based solutions.
The company aims to create opportunities for AI researchers, data scientists and technology professionals while supporting digital transformation in the global travel industry.
The state government believes these initiatives will strengthen Kerala’s position as a major destination for technology investment, innovation and high-skilled employment in the years ahead.
