Ranchi, July 23 : The Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) came under criticism after nearly 75 per cent of candidates reportedly failed to appear for the Field Worker recruitment examination due to alleged administrative lapses, including distant examination centres and delayed admit card delivery.
The commission had invited applications in 2024 to fill 510 Field Worker posts, receiving more than three lakh applications. Nearly two years after the recruitment notification, the written examination was conducted on July 19, but thousands of candidates were unable to take the test because of logistical issues.
Several candidates alleged that their examination centres were allotted hundreds of kilometres away from their hometowns, making it impossible to reach the venue on time. Others claimed that their admit cards were emailed only after the examination had already begun, leaving them with no opportunity to appear for the test.
Rupesh Kumar, a candidate from Sahibganj, said his examination centre was allotted in Gumla, around 550 km from his residence. He alleged that he received his admit card by email on the afternoon of July 19, after the examination had already started. He said he would have travelled earlier had the information been provided in advance.
Another candidate, Ganesh Kumar Sonkar from Hazaribagh, said his examination centre was assigned in Deoghar. He claimed he never received the admit card through email and came to know about the examination centre only after checking the JSSC website. Similar complaints were raised by several candidates from both Jharkhand and neighbouring Bihar.
The alleged irregularities have triggered widespread criticism, with candidates demanding an inquiry into the examination process and urging the commission to conduct a re-examination to ensure that deserving aspirants are not deprived of an opportunity due to administrative shortcomings.
