Jamshedpur, June 29: XLRI – Xavier School of Management conducted a Gender Sensitization and POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) Awareness Session for faculty and administrative staff on Saturday, reaffirming its commitment to a safe and inclusive campus environment.

Organized by the institute’s Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), the session saw participation from 146 faculty and staff members. It was led by Prof. Ayatakshee Sarkar, Convenor of the ICC and a certified POSH trainer, who outlined key legal provisions of the POSH Act, 2013, and the ethical responsibilities of institutions.

The session focused on the composition and legal obligations of the ICC, due process and confidentiality in complaints, common misconceptions around false reporting, and the evolving definitions of sexual harassment in both offline and digital spaces. Prof. Sarkar also emphasized the role of faculty and staff as ethical role models in academic settings.

“POSH compliance isn’t just a legal mandate, it’s a shared moral responsibility,” she said during the session, calling for a collective commitment to fostering respect and safety on campus.

The awareness session concluded with an interactive Q&A, addressing concerns from participants and reinforcing confidence in institutional mechanisms. Earlier this year, similar sensitization sessions were held for students across various programs, as part of XLRI’s comprehensive approach to building awareness and accountability among all stakeholders.

With such initiatives, XLRI continues to position itself as a values-driven institution that integrates academic excellence with social responsibility and community well-being. For queries or to report concerns under the POSH framework, stakeholders have been encouraged to contact the ICC directly.
