Masalia, July 24: Several passengers sustained minor injuries after a speeding truck rammed into the rear of a passenger bus near Banskutia village under the Masalia police station limits on Thursday, police said.
According to eyewitnesses, the passenger bus had stopped on the roadside to allow passengers to alight when the truck, allegedly travelling at high speed, crashed into it from behind.
“The bus had stopped on the roadside to drop off passengers when the speeding truck rammed it from behind,” eyewitnesses said.
The impact damaged the rear portion of the bus, leaving passengers seated at the back with minor injuries. However, no fatalities or serious injuries were reported, and all passengers were stated to be safe.
Locals alleged that the truck driver was under the influence of alcohol and lost control of the vehicle before crashing into the stationary bus.
“The truck driver was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and lost control of the vehicle,” local residents claimed.
Following the accident, a large number of people gathered at the scene. Police rushed to the spot after receiving information and initiated an investigation into the incident.
Police said the truck has been seized and brought to the police station, while the driver is being questioned to determine the exact cause of the accident.
“The cause of the accident is under investigation, and the truck driver is being questioned,” police said.
“The truck has been taken to the police station for further investigation,” they added.
Further investigation into the incident is underway.
