Jamshedpur, July 21: P. Padma Rao of Jamshedpur has been crowned “Strong Woman of Jharkhand” after an impressive all-round performance at the Jharkhand State Powerlifting Championship 2026, earning her a berth in the upcoming National Powerlifting Championship.

The championship was held on July 19 at Hotel Misty Inn in Sakchi, where Padma Rao, a resident of Savitri Tower, Kadma, clinched the overall championship title with a dominant display of strength and consistency.

She secured three gold medals during the competition, a feat that also ensured her selection for the National Powerlifting Championship.

According to the event organisers, “P. Padma Rao was honoured with the title of ‘Strong Woman of Jharkhand’ for her overall championship-winning performance.” They added that “she secured her place in the National Powerlifting Championship after winning three gold medals.”

Padma Rao’s achievement has brought laurels to both Jamshedpur and Jharkhand, strengthening the state’s presence in the national powerlifting arena. Her performance is expected to boost Jharkhand’s prospects at the forthcoming national championship.
